We have a new series at Two Photographers open to all members and subscribers. We will ask each member the same set of 5 questions and ask them to choose 10 photos to highlight their work.
Our next member is James Colledge
JAMES COLLEDGE
1: WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PHOTOGRAPHY BOOK?
André Kertész: On Reading.
A portal into a world of contemplation and observation that calms and soothes – every time.
2: IF YOU COULD SIT DOWN FOR A DRINK AND A CHAT WITH ONE SINGLE PHOTOGRAPHER (LIVING OR DEAD) WHO WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
Bill Brandt
He covered it all, with such an insightful and consistent eye. And he played around in the darkroom: AI – artistic intelligence!
3: WHAT DO YOU LOVE ABOUT PHOTOGRAPHY?
Clearing distraction from a visually intense world; storytelling; the sense that it’ll be the next one; a sense of solitude.
4: WHAT SINGLE THING DO YOU THINK WOULD IMPROVE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY?
Getting people in to my photos rather than out of them. See above re solitude!
5: WHAT IS YOUR WORST HABIT AS A PHOTOGRAPHER AND HOW DO YOU THINK YOU COULD IMPROVE IT?
Underthinking and overprocessing.
Taking more time imagining and defining intent before shooting and so getting closer to the imagined outcome. Nothing wrong with being reactive, but the outcomes seem better when the question is answered ahead: why am I taking this photo?

Anyone remember Steller? I have some old stories there that were fun
